Supplies Needed:
- DTF transfer
- Shirt (cotton, polyester, or blend)
- Heat press
- Teflon sheet or parchment paper
- Lint roller (optional)
Heat Press Application Steps for DTF Transfers on Shirts:
-
Prepare the Shirt:
- Lay the shirt flat and use a lint roller to remove dust, lint, or debris from the area where the transfer will be applied.
- Pre-press the shirt for 5-10 seconds to remove any moisture and wrinkles. This step helps the transfer adhere better.
-
Position the Transfer:
- Place the DTF transfer (design side down, adhesive side touching the fabric) on the desired location of the shirt.
- Ensure the transfer is centered and aligned. Use heat-resistant tape if needed to keep it in place.
-
Set Up the Heat Press:
- Temperature: 315ยฐF
- Pressure: Medium to firm
- Time: 15 seconds
-
Press the Transfer:
- Place a Teflon sheet or parchment paper over the transfer to protect it.
- Press the shirt and transfer for 15 seconds with medium to firm pressure.
-
Peel Hot or Cold:
- Slowly peel the film off. If any parts of the design are not adhered, carefully reapply the film and press again for a few seconds.
-
Final Press:
- Cover the design with parchment paper, t-shirt, or teflon sheet and press again for 15-20 seconds. This final step ensures the design is fully bonded to the fabric and enhances durability.

Peel COLD
- TRANSFER MUST BE FULLY COOLED
- Slowly peel the film off. If any parts of the design are not adhered, carefully reapply the film and press again for a few seconds. NOTE: Glitter film is a little harder to peel than regular DTF, so that is normal
-
Final Press:
- Cover the design with parchment paper, t-shirt, or teflon sheet and press again for 15-20 seconds. This final step ensures the design is fully bonded to the fabric and enhances durability.
Supplies Needed:
- Faux leather hat patch with adhesive backing
- Hat (structured or unstructured, as needed)
- Heat press
- Heat-resistant tape (optional)
- Pressing pillow or foam pad (for hats with seams or curves)
- E6000 glue (optional for added durability)
Heat Press Application Steps:
-
Prepare the Hat and Patch:
- Ensure the surface of the hat is clean and dry.
- Position the patch on the desired area of the hat to determine placement.
- Use heat-resistant tape to hold the patch in place if necessary.
-
Set Up the Heat Press:
- Temperature: 270ยฐF
- Pressure: Medium
- Time: 10-12 seconds
- If your hat has seams or curves, place a pressing pillow or foam pad under the pressing area to ensure even pressure.
-
Press the Patch:
- Position the hat and patch in the heat press. Make sure the patch is centered and lying flat against the hat.
- Close the heat press and apply pressure for 10-12 seconds.
-
Cool and Check:
- Allow the patch to cool for a few seconds before handling.
- Check the edges to ensure the adhesive has fully bonded to the hat. If any areas are lifting, press again for a few more seconds.
Optional: Reinforce with E6000 Glue
- For hats that will be exposed to heavy use or frequent washing, add a thin layer of E6000 glue to the back of the patch before heat pressing.
- Spread the glue evenly around the edges and center, but avoid overapplying.
- Follow the same heat press instructions above to activate the adhesive and set the glue.
Tips for Success:
- Ensure your heat press is properly calibrated to maintain an even temperature and pressure.
- Use a heat-resistant barrier (like parchment paper or a Teflon sheet) if you are concerned about the finish of the patch or hat.
- For curved areas, consider using a specialized hat press or attachment to ensure proper contact.
Supplies Needed:
- Faux leather hat patch
- Hat (structured or unstructured, as needed)
- E6000 glue
- Toothpick or small applicator for precise glue placement
- Heavy-duty tape (optional, for positioning)
- Small clamp or flat heavy object (e.g., book) for pressure
ย
-
Prepare the Hat and Patch:
- Ensure the surface of the hat where the patch will be applied is clean and dry. Wipe it with a damp cloth if needed and allow it to dry completely.
- Inspect the patch to ensure no debris is stuck to the back.
-
Plan the Placement:
- Position the patch on the hat to decide its exact placement.
- Use a piece of tape to mark the edges or lightly tape the patch in place for precise application later.
-
Apply the E6000 Glue:
- Remove the patch and apply a thin, even layer of E6000 glue to the back of the faux leather patch. Use a toothpick or applicator for precision around the edges.
- Avoid overapplying to prevent glue from seeping out when pressed.
-
Position the Patch:
- Carefully place the patch onto the hat, aligning it with your marked area.
- Press firmly to ensure good contact between the patch and the hat fabric.
-
Secure the Patch:
- Use a small clamp or place a heavy, flat object over the patch to maintain pressure while the glue sets. For hats with curved brims, gently mold the patch to the curve and use elastic bands or tape to hold it in place.
-
Allow to Cure:
- Leave the patch undisturbed for at least 24 hours to allow the E6000 to fully cure. For best results, let it cure for 48-72 hours.
-
Final Check:
- Once the glue has cured, check the edges of the patch to ensure it is fully secured. Add a small amount of glue to any loose areas if needed and repeat the curing process.
Tips for Success:
- Work in a well-ventilated area when using E6000, as it has strong fumes.
- Avoid washing or wearing the hat until the glue is completely cured.
- For extra durability, consider stitching the edges of the patch after gluing if your machine or hand stitching skills allow.
